One of the lingering mysteries of the 1980s is why someone thought it would be a good idea to have wrestling star/Cyndi Lauper co-conspirator Captain Lou Albano play a live-action version of Mario in between the cartoons on the Saturday morning staple, The Super Mario Bros. Super Show.
Now we know the answer: it was so Captain Lou could warn children about the dangers of drugs, as he does in this vintage Public Service Announcement.
Remember kids, Mario says, “If you do drugs, you go to Hell before you die.” Or, you go to Level One Boss, where you watch today’s Classic Video Game Replay.
