Emilio Estevez and Moon Unit Zappa Battle Evil Arcade Games In 1983 Horror Flick, "Nightmares"

Monday March 30, 2009 3:12 PM

Today’s Classic Video Game Replay is a real doozy. We’re proud to present the all-but-forgotten horror anthology movie Nightmares. Released in 1983 (the same year as Video Game Comedy Hall of Famer Joysticks), Nightmares features four different chilling tales of ’80s terror. As the trailer (above), warns, “Nightmares – they don’t only happen at night.”

The second part of the movie, titled “Bishop of Battle” because it’s bad-ass, stars a young Emilio Estevez as rebel-with-a-cause J.J. Cooney, a misunderstood teen with a flair for the joystick. J.J. spends all his time at the local arcade – and the horror that unfolds there cannot be described by words – mostly because it makes absolutely no sense.

Luckily, we’ve found all of it and posted it below so you can see for yourself. But before you watch, be warned – the following video features a giant, menacing version of the centipede from Centipede, extreme arcade violence, and the acting of Moon Unit Zappa. You may proceed.
