Louis Armstrong Wakes From Dead, Sings “Super Mario World” Tribute, Then Killed By Bowser

Tuesday August 11, 2009 12:00 PM

We know that trying to settle on the best Mario related game is like trying to pin down a release date for “Starcraft 2,” but we think everyone can agree that “Super Mario Worldis pretty high up on the Awesome-Mario-Game-Checklist.

Let’s take a look at the facts, shall we? Worlds themed around candy and cookies? Check. Mario pretending to be Superman in a fancy yellow cape? Check. Bowser going all “John and Kate Plus 8” and sending his seven illegitimate kiddies to fight for him? Check.

Let’s not forget that “Super Mario World” introduced us to everyone’s favorite orally-fixated dinosaur, Yoshi! Checkmate (sorry, Birdo).

But does it feature a theme song crooned by a dead, jazz trumpeting icon? It does now.

That’s right, Louis Armstrong came back from the dead just to tip the scales in favor of his all-time favorite Mario game, and what a comeback it is! What’s next? Will there be a “Mega Man 2″ soundtrack featuring Kurt Cobain or could Rick James hum the entire “Zelda” score from six fee under?

We don’t care, we’re just glad Louis’ moved on from his overtly-sexual phase.
