Video Game Legend Hears More Than He Wants To From Facebook Fans

Monday August 24, 2009 3:00 PM

Miyamoto!

Shigeru Miyamoto isn’t just a Japanese guy with a difficult-to-pronounce last name, he’s a video game legend. We’re talking about the guy who helped develop everything from the NES to the Wii. Oh, and I guess he created some little games like “Super Mario Bros.,”The Legend of Zelda,” and “Metroid.” No big deal.

Sure, he might not be Bill Gates famous, but the dude was named “Time’s” Most Influential Person of the Year! So, it’s no surprise that he has some… eclectic Facebook fans. We cherry-picked our favorite, weirdest and creepiest comments from Miyamoto’s Facebook fan pages to show you that just because you didn’t know who he was a second ago doesn’t mean you can’t enjoy how creepy hardcore video game nerds can get.

10. Oh, of course! Why didn’t Shigeru think of that? Don’t forget Shmersho, the character that looks like Luigi, dresses like Ganon, and shoots fireballs from his butthole! Ahem. Let’s leave the creative choices to Mr. Most Influential, Tayo.

9. Great idea, Matt. Should we ever need a collective leader, somebody with no political experience and thousands of hours spent creating warp pipes and waggle-controls Shigeru is the perfect candidate.

8. Ohhhhh, sh*t! You hear that, Gates? Stefan got you good! What are you gonna do about it, huh? That’s right, crawl back to your lakeside Seattle mansion. Miyamoto: 1, Gates: 0.

7. There are only a few occasions where it’s appropriate to resurrect a dated Will Smith reference for the sake of a pun. This is not one of those occasions.

6. IT IS A GOOD THING THAT YOU TOLD HIM THAT BECAUSE I DON’T THINK HE WAS AWARE OF WHAT HE CREATED LOLZ!

5. Screw Time’s “Most Influential Person of the Year,” you’re Columbia’s “Esplendid Man of Big Ideas”!

4. We’re really, really hoping that this is a joke. But seeing that the dude in the picture is wearing a captain’s hat, it probably isn’t one.

3. Nope, this isn’t strange. Not one bit. Whenever we finish a new Zelda game, the first thing we want to do is give the man who created it a long, relaxing massage. Nothing creepy about that, totally normal.

2. I wish I could say this was the weirdest fan comment, but it’s not… by a long shot.

1. So… apparently the spawn of Satan has a hard-on for Shigeru Miyamoto? Sure, his/her methods to get in touch might be unorthodox, but it’s great to see that Nintendo’s brand has branched out from your typical Earth audience to places like Hell.

This post was written by Justin Michael, who could really use that massage if Shigeru isn’t taking it.
