Let’s be honest, pretty much every movie based on a video game has sucked big time, and the Grand Poo-Bah of turtle-slinging, cinematic crap is most definitely 1993’s “Super Mario Bros.”
Seriously, that movie was so bad that Harold Ramis turned it down, and he doesn’t turn anything down these days. We’re looking at you, “Year One.”
Leave it to Internet sketch group Dr. Coolsex to create a fake trailer for a “Mario Kart” movie that blows the entire 90-plus minutes of “Super Mario Bros.” out of the water. Sure, it wasn’t a tough job to pull off… but somebody had to do it.
If that didn’t convince you that “Mario Kart” has the magic touch, check out this Jesus-like miracle: it also made “Death Race” a remotely tolerable movie to watch. And that’s saying a lot.
